Soni Mohan, Senior Environmental Consultant 

Soni Mohan received her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah, her master’s in Chemical Engineering and her MBA from the University of Houston. She has over 10 years of petrochemical industry experience in a variety of roles including: Process Engineer, Environmental Specialist and Business & Marketing Analyst.

Process Engineer: Worked on several projects including the integration of $4 million-dollar Metallocenes technology into the Chemical company’s High-Density Polyethylene Unit for introducing a new product line. Led operations and maintenance teams for frequent catalyst bed change-outs of large-scale reactors (cost savings of over $200k). Supported large-scale capital projects that involved performing process simulations using PROII and HTRI, sized valves, pumps, PSV’s and heat exchangers, conducted process hazards analysis (PHAs), developed P&IDs, implemented MOC processes and performed numerous project economic feasibility studies. Performed countless data analysis to determine timing of various Unit shutdowns and maintenance.

Plant Environmental Specialist & Consultant: Primary duty involved direct operational plant support for a large petrochemical manufacturing facility. Worked extensively leading a team of 11 plant personnel to develop and implement a large-scale Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program. Developed metrics to track performance and reported regulatory information to plant management. Saved the company $300K per year in their fugitive emissions budget. Worked on several air-related regulatory work that included, Reg V, HRVOC, EMACT, NESHAP, NSPS, TRI and Permit-by-rules (PBRs). Primary point of contact for Wastewater and Stormwater related issues. Work involved submitting Discharge Monitoring & Biomonitoring Reports and working on the facility’s TPDES/NPDES permit applications. Collaborated extensively with plant operations and maintenance to ensure that the facility was always in compliance by training personnel on environmental rules and regulations and participating in corporate audits of sister facilities.

Business & Marketing Analyst: Performed economic forecast development, demand/supply forecast modeling, and development of customer and competitor profiles for a large Chemical manufacturer and Natural Gas Supplier. Engaged in business development and marketing efforts. Interfaced with a variety of industry professionals to establish presentation and training content. Involved in considerable social media marketing and marketing strategies.

Soni lives in The Woodlands, Texas just north of Houston with her husband and twin girls who are in High School. When she is away from her desk, she loves to practice yoga and teach Pilates. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
